Here’s What We Hope You’ll Say Too...
“...we asked... Putu to cook for us one evening... a whole smoked duck with Balinese spices, no less than 5 fabulous vegetable dishes and rice... [it was] the most authentic and delicious meal of our trip.”

“...Putu, has a small restaurant (or Warung) in Ubud named Wild Ginger, and it is easily one of the best places to eat in all of Ubud. If you enjoy perfectly prepared, delicious food, then you should treat yourself to several meals at Wild Ginger. Everything on the menu was delicious, and if I were to try to name a favorite I would have to list everything on the menu; it was all that good.”

“Highlights of my stay [in Ubud] - Meals at Putu's Wild Ginger... Putu made the best Balinese homestyle meals I ate during my trip and put so much care and artistry into each dish that the foodie in me was ecstatic. I recommend Putu's special chicken and fruit salad. Her Ginger Fizz drink is also tops.”

“...Putu, runs a restaurant... called Wild Ginger, where we had dinner 2 nights in a row. If you're interested in eating real Balinese food, please do ask Putu to prepare a Balinese dinner for you... We loved it.”

“Putu is a fabulous cook and for a few dollars she cooked a duck that was the best duck on the planet.”

“[Putu] prepared a dinner which was one of the highlights of our five day stay in Ubud, and for that matter our thirteen weeks in SE Asia.”

“Wild Ginger is a home away from home. It is a friendly charming environment to meet new friends visiting Bali for the first time or local ex pats to join in laughter and get up to date on local information.
Whether you choose Putu’s special chicken or soto ayam you will return again and again. I say this after coming to Wild Ginger 4 days a week for several years. I’ve enjoyed delicious affordable lunches and dinners, joined friends, and love the special warm welcomes from the owners, Nyoman Astawa and Putu Widi. We now call Wild Ginger our home away from home.”

“We love Wild Ginger. It is off the main road so not a lot of traffic (or the noise it comes with.) We also get to meet many new people and many old people (as well) since it is an environment conducive of conversation (amongst yourselves or with strangers). It is a place that has exceeded all our expectations, from the actual restaurant, the people, and the food. Ibu (mom) Putu always makes us feel like there is definitely at least one person in the world that cares about us, and she makes us soup if we are sick.
It doesn’t matter if it is your first time to Bali, or if you eat at Wild Ginger every night, they are so happy to see you that you really can’t help but smile. It is hard to feel homesick when you are treated just like family by them, and it is really the perfect place to sit and relax. From weary traveler to weary traveler, this is the place to be.”
